League age is the child's age on April 30, 2025, and determines which division he or she will be placed in. See the Parent's FAQ for details.

For players that are league age 4 & 5.  Teams  will be playing the full season off the tee.

Open to: Boys & Girls 
Born between: 5/1/2019 and 4/30/2021

The Foal division is one of the largest and most important divisions in PONY Baseball. The focus is on developing basic baseball skills, introducing sportsmanship, cooperation, and most of all HAVING FUN!! Players will play off of the tee, mostly, and may progress to coach pitch by end of the season.  No score is kept; the emphasis is on learning not winning.  Practices are on Saturdays, games are on Sundays.

Cost: $100

Key Dates:

• Practices start  August 31st
• First Game: September 22, 2024
• Last Game: November 24, 2024

For players that are league age 6.  Teams  will be playing the full season using the Blue Flame Pitching Arm.

Open to: Boys & Girls 
Born between: 5/1/2018 and 4/30/2019

The Shetland division is one of the largest and most important divisions in PONY Baseball. The focus is on developing basic baseball skills, introducing sportsmanship, cooperation, and most of all HAVING FUN!! No score is kept; the emphasis is on learning not winning. Practices will be on Saturdays, games on Sundays.

Cost: $100

For players league age 7 or 8.  Players will be hitting pitches from the Pitching Machine set at 40 MPH.

Open to: Boys & Girls 
Born between: 5/1/2016 and 4/30/2018

The Pinto division is known for exciting, action-filled games and noticeable improvement in skills by its players. Our goal for our young players at this level is to develop a strong foundation in the principles of sportsmanship and teamwork, and most importantly, having fun learning to play baseball. Practices will be on Saturdays, games on Sundays. 

Cost: $150

For players league age 9 or 10.

Born between: 5/1/2014 and 4/30/2016

The Mustang division is an important step in your child’s understanding of baseball and development of skills. In this division the players will begin playing traditional baseball, with live pitching, base stealing, bunting and all the related offensive and defensive strategies.

Cost: $150

Open to: Boys & Girls 
Born between: 5/1/2012 and 4/30/2014

The Bronco Division is perhaps the first level in the youth baseball system in which the players participate in “complete” baseball; including all of the traditional baseball rules, strategies, guidelines, etc. The Bronco Division follows PONY baseball rules which include base runner lead-offs at all bases, base stealing, pitching from the “stretch” position, balks, dropped third strike, the infield fly rule, and all other rules and procedures which normally govern the game of baseball.

Cost: $150

Born between: 5/1/2010 and 4/30/2012

The Pony Division provides an opportunity to play competitive baseball in an atmosphere that fosters and supports the recreational attitude of Carlsbad Youth Baseball. Pony Division baseball is virtually real baseball. We use real baseball rules and equipment with only a few minor modifications.

Cost: $150
